Commercial red meat production up 8% in July
WASHINGTON — Commercial red meat production in July totaled 4,252 million lbs, up 8% from 3,940 million lbs in July 2007 and up 5% from 4,050 million lbs in June 2008, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Livestock Slaughter report. MORE

Average price of all wheat at $7.29 in July
WASHINGTON — The preliminary national average price received by farmers for all wheat in July was $7.29 per bu, down 33c from $7.62 in June but $2.12 above the July 2007 average of $5.17, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its July Agriculture Prices report. MORE

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture projected U.S. wheat carryover on June 1, 2009, at 487 million bus, up 4 million bus from 483 million bus projected in May, and up 92% from the upwardly revised 2008 carryover of 254 million bus. MORE
