ZURICH, SWITZERLAND — Kevin Toland, who was named chief executive officer of Aryzta AG back in mid-May, will officially take over the post on Sept. 12, the company said on Aug. 28. Owen Killian, the previous c.e.o., resigned at the end of the fiscal year in July.
At the time Mr. Toland was named c.e.o., Aryzta said he would not assume his position until a customary six-month notice period, or earlier. He most recently was c.e.o. of DAA, formerly Dublin Airport Authority, since 2013. Prior to that role, he was president and c.e.o. of Glanbia USA/Global Nutritionals, where he led the business to become the largest manufacturer and exporter of American-style cheese in the United States and the global leader in sports nutrition. He also held other senior roles at Glanbia, including group development director, chief executive of consumer foods and director of strategy and marketing.
Aryzta also announced that Juergen B. Steinemann has been appointed to the company’s board as an independent non-executive director. His appointment is subject to approval by Aryzta’s shareholders at an upcoming annual general meeting, scheduled for Dec. 7.
Mr. Steinemann has senior management experience in the food segment, including as c.e.o. of Barry Callebaut from August 2009 to September 2015. Prior to Barry Callebaut, he was chief operating officer of Nutreco, and earlier he was c.e.o. of Loders Croklaan. He also has held various senior positions with the former Eridania Beghin-Say Group.
