WASHINGTON — June production of edible nonfat dry milk was 169,135,000 lbs, down 13% from May but up 15% from June 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Dairy Products report.
Manufacturers’ stocks of edible nonfat dry milk were 144,821,000 lbs, down 33% from May and down 22% from June 2011. June nonfat dry milk shipments were 230,608,000 lbs, up 17% from May and up 95% from June 2011.
Output of skim milk powders was 25,362,000 lbs, up 90% from May but down 24% from June 2011.
Total dry whey production was 83,171,000 lbs, down 3% from May and down 1% from June 2011.
Production of lactose was 89,222,000 lbs, up 2% from May but down 1% from June 2011. Whey protein concentrate production totaled 38,617,000 lbs, up 4% from May and up 6% from June 2011.
Dry buttermilk outturn was 7,812,000 lbs, down 11% from May but up 4% from June 2011.
Total manufacturers’ stocks of dry whey on June 30, 2012, were 51,966,000 lbs, up 5% from May and up 10% from June 2011. Total lactose stocks were 88,436,000 lbs, up 4% from May and up 15% from June 2011. Whey protein concentrate stocks totaled 55,527,000 lbs, up 7% from May and up 60% from June 2011. Dry buttermilk stocks totaled 14,849,000 lbs, down 23% from May and down 22% from June 2011.
Butter production in June 2012 was 136,837,000 lbs, down 16% from May and down 3% from June 2011.
Total cheese production was 896,795,000 lbs, down 2% from May but up 1% from June 2011.
Production of regular hard ice cream totaled 76,407,000 gallons, up 2% from May and up 1% from June 2011. Low-fat ice cream production was 42,854,000 gallons, down slightly from 42,950,000 in May and down 5% from June 2011.
