Chattanooga Bakery, Inc., Chattanooga, Tenn., has added four additional non-expired code dates of its MoonPie Crunch Peanut Butter product. The retailer Trader Joe’s also has updated the list of products it sells that have been associated with the recall.
The Food and Drug Administration also said on Friday, Oct. 5, that in 2012 its inspectors had identified “objectionable conditions” at the Sunland facility in Portales. The conditions were identified during two inspections that took place in 2009 and 2010, but the agency said the findings were classified as not meeting the threshold for action. The F.D.A. did not release details of what had been found during the inspections.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified 35 cases of Salmonella in 19 states that are associated with the recall. Most of the illnesses have been in California and Texas.
