ST. LOUIS — George Allard, head of the milling business of Bunge North America, has been named vice-president and general manager of the company’s oil business, effective April 1. Mr. Allard has replaced Rodney Perry who has been named the Bunge Ltd. vice-president of food and ingredients for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In turn, Wade Ellis has been promoted to vice-president and general manager of the Bunge North America milling business, replacing Mr. Allard.
“George is a proven leader with a track record of success in expanding our operations in the food and ingredients segment,” said Soren Schroder, president and chief executive officer of Bunge North America. “With experience in both sales and operations, Wade understands our customers’ need and what it takes to provide them with quality products and service.”
The moves at Bunge follow an announcement last month that Mr. Schroder will be the next c.e.o. of Bunge Ltd., effective June 1, with the retirement of Alberto Weisser. No successor to Mr. Schroder has been named.
Mr. Allard has been with Bunge since 2004, when he joined the company as treasurer of Bunge North America. He also was chief financial official for the company’s Canadian operations and Bunge Latin America before taking his most recent position as head of North America’s milling business.
Earlier, Mr. Allard spent more than 12 years working in various financial positions for Guidant Corp. and Eridania Beghin-Say.
Mr. Ellis has been with Bunge since 2003 and has held various sales positions, including vice-president, sales, for the milling business and, most recently, general manager of Bunge’s rice milling facility located in Woodland, Calif. Before joining Bunge he spent several years in the hybrid seed corn industry.
With his new assignment, Mr. Perry, who has been associated with the U.S. grain and processing industries for nearly 25 years, will be transferring to Bunge offices in Europe. He has been with Bunge since 2000 and has been vice-president and general manager for Bunge Oils since 2007. Earlier in his career, Mr. Perry held positions at Bethel Grain Co. and ConAgra Foods, Inc. He began his career in 1989 as a merchandising manager with Archer Daniels Midland Co.
