WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken during January was 221,823,000 lbs, down 4% from December and down slightly from 222,485,000 lbs in January 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.
January production of edible liquid whole eggs was 135,401,000 lbs, down 7% from December but up 1% from January 2012; liquid whites were 56,630,000 lbs, down 2% from both December 2012 and January 2012; liquid yolks were 29,792,000 lbs, up 4% from December but down 1% from January 2012.
Shell eggs broken in January were 172,955,000 dozen, down 3% from December but up 2% from January 2012.
Shell eggs broken during calendar 2012 totaled 2,114,304,000 dozen, up 2% from 2011, the U.S.D.A. said.
