WASHINGTON — The Agricultural Marketing Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s most recent data on prices of butter, cheddar cheese in blocks and barrels, dry whey and nonfat dry milk in the week ended May 4 showed only small changes in either direction.
Highlights from the report include Grade AA butter at an average price of $1.72, down 0.7c from the previous week; cheddar cheese US 40-lb blocks at an average price of $1.86 per lb, up 4.1c from the previous week; cheddar cheese 500-lb barrels adjusted to 38% moisture at $1.76 per lb, down 1.2c from the previous week; dry whey at an average of 58.1c per lb for the week ended May 4, up 1.6c from the previous week, and nonfat dry milk at an average of $1.60 per lb in the latest week, up 0.4c from the previous week.
The Dairy Products Sales Report is based on survey data collected after Saturday of each week. Participants are 97 reporting entities selling 1 million lbs of dairy products, the U.S.D.A. said.
