DECATUR, ILL. — Archer Daniels Midland Co.’s proposed acquisition of GrainCorp Ltd. took another step forward after the Japan Fair Trade Commission approved the transaction. The acquisition now has been cleared by the United States Federal Trade Commission, South Africa’s Competition Commission, Canada’s Competition Bureau and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
ADM said it continues to work with regulators in China, the European Union and South Korea. The company first announced its intent to acquire GrainCorp in late April for $3.5 billion.
