PARIS — Danone has announced it has acquired YoCrunch, which manufactures yogurt with mix-in toppings through licensing with brands such as M&Ms and Oreo. The company, which was founded in 1985, has net sales of $110 million.
Danone said the acquisition will help it develop yogurt consumption. The company will expand the products available in the United States. Danone also will benefit from YoCurnch’s experience in compartmentalized packaging.
This announcement comes after The Starbucks Coffee Co. and Danone on July 23 entered an agreement to develop a line of Greek yogurt products to be sold in Starbucks stores and the grocery channel in the United States, and, eventually, globally. The products will be sold under the brand Evolution Fresh, Inspired by Dannon.
Additionally, Danone also entered an agreement in May to acquire majority interest in the Happy Family brand of organic baby food products.
