DALLAS — James Williams, longtime owner of B.C. Williams Bakery Service, a provider of ingredients to the wholesale bakery industry, died Jan. 15. He was 90 years old.

Mr. Williams served in the Navy during World War II and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1949. An avid athlete, he played varsity baseball and basketball for Rochester during his college years. In the mid-1950s, he joined B.C. Williams Bakery Services, a company founded by his uncle, Ben Williams. He began in a sales role and went on to hold several positions during his career at the company. Most recently he was chairman.

Mr. Williams was a 50-year member of the American Bakers Association and the American Society of Baking, and he also was a member of the National Allied Trades Association, Dallas Country Club, Dallas Petroleum Club and Twenty Five Investors.

He is survived by his five children and their families: Linda Williams Rush (Robert) of Frankfort, Ky.; James Bowman Williams, Jr. (Mary) of San Antonio; Cynthia Williams Beecherl (Louis) of Dallas; Jayne Williams Bass (W. David) of Dallas; and Margaret Williams Heath (Michael) of Austin; his grandchildren, Cynthia R. Yeiser (Jordan); Robert Rush (Katie); Campbell Williams (Anne); Alan Williams (Amanda); Bowman Williams; Arthur Beecherl (Colly); Rebecca B. Bell (Landon); Ben Beecherl; Edward Beecherl; Nancy B. Ferry (Richard); Wade Bass; Jim Bass; Henry Bass; Wylie Kuykendall and Jennie Kuykendall; and several great-grandchildren.
