KALAMAZOO, MICH. — After an expansion, the Kalsec product line for expeller-pressed spice and herb extracts now includes anise, capsicum, celery, chipotle, coriander, cumin, dill, fennel, jalapeño, mace and paprika. The products are non-G.M.O./non-bioengineered and acceptable under Whole Foods Market standards. Kalamazoo-based Kalsec manufactures the extracts at its facility in Denver City, Texas.
The method involves mechanical pressing of the spices and herbs and requires no organic solvents in the extraction process.
“The Kalsec technology is quite sophisticated, but the concept of expeller pressing dates back to early times,” said George Todd, chief executive officer of Kalsec.
