Sosland Publishing Co. is moving to the Colonnade building. |
KANSAS CITY — After more than 40 years in the Kansas City Board of Trade building, the offices of Sosland Publishing Co. are moving across the street to the Colonnade building.
Since the company was established in 1922, Sosland Publishing has officed in only three different buildings. For 34 years the company was located at the Kansas City Board of Trade building downtown, and in 1966 moved to the Country Club Plaza with the opening of a new K.C.B.T. building there. For a six-year period beginning in 1984, the company’s headquarters were located in suburban Johnson county in Kansas.
For most of its history, the company’s presence in the Board of Trade was considered crucial for the ingredient markets coverage, which remains a centerpiece of the publishing activities at the business but which has been transformed by the adoption of electronic trading by futures exchanges.
The move to the Colonnade building was precipitated by the 2012 CME Group purchase of the Kansas City Board of Trade and its building. The CME closed the trading floor and put the building up for sale shortly thereafter. The decision to leave the Board of Trade was negotiated with the building’s new owners, who are in the midst of a major update of the 48-year-old building.
The Colonnade building first opened in 2004 and features a branch of the Kansas City Public Library. Mailing address for the new offices will be Sosland Publishing Co., 4801 Main Street, Suite 650, Kansas City, MO 64112. The company’s phone number will remain (816) 756-1000.
