NEW YORK. — Bunge Ltd. has created a new board committee on sustainability and corporate responsibility. The committee will be headed by board member Carol Browner.
Creation of the committee was announced May 23 by L. Patrick Lupo, Bunge chairman.
“The committee will provide governance and guidance on policies, strategies and programs relevant to Bunge’s relationship with the environment and the communities in which it works,” the company said.
Ms. Browner has served as director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy from 2009 to 2011 and was administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from 1993 to 2001.
Also at the annual meeting, Ms. Browner was elected to a three-year term on the Bunge board, as were Ernest G. Bachrach and Enrique H. Boilini. Ms. Browner has been on the Bunge board since 2013 while Mr. Bachrach and Mr. Boilini joined the board in 2001.
