HANOVER, PA. — Michael Warehime, chairman of the board of directors at Snyder’s-Lance, Inc., died Aug. 23. He was 73 years old.

Hanover Brands, a vegetable processor, and its president and chief executive officer, Alan Warehime, purchased Snyder’s Bakery in 1961. Five years later, Michael Warehime, Alan’s youngest son, joined the company after graduating from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. He later went on to become chief executive officer of the company in 1972, and in 1990 was named chairman of the board. Mr. Warehime relinquished the c.e.o. position in 1997, but later reassumed the position after John Denton left the company to become chairman and c.e.o. of New World Pasta Co. Mr. Warehime remained chairman when Snyder’s merged with Lance, Inc. in 2010.

Within the last 10 years, he became an owner of Warminster, Pa.-based Seafood America and was instrumental in reviving the company to its current status.

In 2009, Mr. Warehime was recognized by his peers in the industry by being inducted into the Snack Food Association Circle of Honor.

Mr. Warehime is survived by his wife, Tricia A. Warehime; three daughters, Kate (Jason) Mininger of Hanover, Susan (Frank) Rupp of West Chester, Pa., and Elizabeth Warehime of Hanover; four grandchildren; a sister, Sally Warehime Yelland Ehrhart; and a brother, John Warehime.
