ST. PAUL, MINN. — CHS, Inc. and the St. Paul Saints, an independent minor league baseball team, unveiled a new partnership on Sept. 8 with a ceremony renaming the Saints’ ballpark CHS Field. The new ballpark in downtown St. Paul’s Lowertown neighborhood officially became CHS Field with Twin Cities-based CHS, Inc.
”The opportunity to team up with Saints is a home run for both of us,” said Carl Casale, president and chief executive officer of CHS. ”This has been our hometown for more than 80 years and the Saints are our hometown team. It’s also an opportunity to connect to our deeply held values of supporting families with opportunities to have fun together while we tell agriculture’s story and help the Twin Cities get to know CHS better.”
The ceremony had a lighthearted and entertaining edge to it, with Mr. Casale rolling onto the field on a tractor pulling a hay wagon bearing a CHS Field sign.
”Our partnership with CHS and its members opens the next chapter in the storied history of the St. Paul Saints and demonstrates our joint commitment to the community, and to the future of both professional and amateur sports in the region,” said Marv Goldklang, the Saints chairman and principal owner. ”We look forward to a long and wonderful relationship.”
The ceremony also included an area farm family.
With construction moving forward on schedule, the ballpark should be completed for the 2015 season.
