PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Post Foods, L.L.C. continues to ring in the new year with new product launches. The company said it is adding two varieties to the Honey Bunches of Oats family: Honey Bunches of Oats Whole Grain Honey Crunch and Honey Bunches of Oats Whole Grain Vanilla Bunches. The announcement comes a little more than a week after Post said it is extending its Great Grains brand beyond the cereal aisle with the launch of new granola and snack mix products.
“On average, Americans eat less than one serving of whole grain per day, even though it’s an important part of a balanced diet,” said Kristin Latzo, manager of scientific affairs, nutrition and regulatory at Post Foods. “While our fans know whole grains are good for them, they don’t want to sacrifice on taste. We’re excited to offer a delicious option that will have the whole family lining up for whole grain goodness. We strive to create cereals the entire family can enjoy, while providing even more benefits at the breakfast table.”
Honey Bunches of Oats Whole Grain Honey Crunch and Honey Bunches of Oats Whole Grain Vanilla Bunches feature the crispy whole grain flakes and crunchy granola clusters that have made the brand a top choice in the ready-to-eat cereal category since its debut in 1989. In the 52 weeks ended Nov. 2, 2014, dollar sales for the base Honey Bunches of Oats brand topped $390 million, trailing only General Mills’ Honey Nut Cheerios ($499 million) and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes ($430 million), according to Information Resources, Inc., a Chicago-based market research firm.
Honey Bunches of Oats Whole Grain cereal provides 33 grams of whole grain per serving, 4 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein.
