Ms. Smoyer came to NAMA from an internship at the National Confectioners Association where she focused on science and regulatory affairs issues related to the cocoa, chocolate, and candy industries. Earlier, Ms. Smoyer held internships at Food Directions L.L.C. and the Food Marketing Institute.
She graduated earlier this year from Penn State University with a bachelor of science degree in food science, with a minor in international agriculture.
At NAMA, Ms. Smoyer will be responsible for NAMA legislative and regulatory policy issues and programs, particularly in the areas of nutrition and food safety.
“We are delighted to have Paige join our team at NAMA,” said James McCarthy, president and chief executive officer of NAMA. “Her education in food science and recent experience made her an ideal candidate for this position, and we look forward to introducing her to our membership.”
The announcement that Ms. Smoyer has joined the NAMA staff was made immediately before the Oct. 22-24 annual meeting of the association, to be held at the Royal Palms resort and spa in Phoenix.
