WASHINGTON — The American Bakers Association (A.B.A.) has joined Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture, a multi-stakeholder initiative working to unite the agricultural supply chain in defining, measuring, and advancing the sustainability of food, fiber, and fuel production.
“Sustainability is key to bakers’ interactions with their customers and consumers,” said Robb MacKie, president and chief executive officer of the A.B.A. “By joining Field to Market, we hope to advance our industry’s commitment to continuous improvement of its collective sustainability practices, ensuring positive impacts on the environment and communities we serve and where we operate.”
The A.B.A. said it plans to work together with grower organizations, academia, conservation groups, public sector partners and leading companies to find opportunities for continuous improvement in productivity, environmental quality, and human well-being across the agricultural value chain.
