WASHINGTON — Bradley K. Alexander, executive vice-president and chief operating officer, Flowers Foods, Inc., has been elected second vice-chairman of the American Bakers Association for 2015-16.
The addition of Mr. Alexander to the A.B.A. roster of officers was approved at the annual meeting of the American Bakers Association, which was held March 29-April 2 at the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fla.
The vote represented approval of a new slate, now with Mr. Alexander, for 2014-16. Other A.B.A. officers elected had served in the same capacity in 2014-15 — Rich Scalise, chairman and chief executive officer of Hearthside Food Solutions, chairman; Fred Penny, president of Bimbo Bakeries USA, first vice-chairman; and Erin Sharp, group vice-president, The Kroger Co., treasurer.
As second vice-chairman, Mr. Alexander succeeds Allen L. Shiver, chairman and c.e.o. of Flowers Foods. Mr. Shiver is a past chairman of the A.B.A. Mr. Alexander has been on the A.B.A. board since 2014.
Howard R. (Robin) Alton III, president and c.e.o. of Pan-O-Gold Baking Co., remains immediate past president of the A.B.A.
Elected as new A.B.A. board members were Peggy Lewis, executive vice-president of Lewis Bakeries, Inc., succeeding longtime board member and past chairman R. Jack Lewis, Jr., president of Lewis Bakeries, Inc.; Tom McCurry, managing director and c.o.o. of Cain Food Industries, Inc., who joins the board in his new post as A.T.B.I. president, and replacing former A.T.B.I. president Rick McGrath, partner of Lockton Companies; Audrey St. Onge, regional California director for Safeway, Inc.; and John Yamin, c.e.o. of The Americas at Aryzta.
