Ardent Mills has announced a partnership with the Colorado Rapids, a Major League Soccer team.

DENVER — Ardent Mills L.L.C., the nation’s largest flour milling company, has announced a partnership with the Colorado Rapids, a Major League Soccer team, to benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies during the 2015 season.

Under the program, Ardent Mills will donate 500 meals to the Food Bank of the Rockies with each corner kick by the Rapids. If the Rapids score on a kick, the donation will be 1,000 meals.

“The Rapids average 170 corner kicks per season,” said Dan Dye, president of Ardent Mills. “When you do the math, we hope to make a real difference in battling hunger in this region.”

Tim Hinchey, chief executive officer of the Rapids, said the program will “make a difference in thousands of lives in Colorado and Wyoming.” Kevin Seggelke, president and c.e.o. with Food Bank of the Rockies, estimated one Coloradan in seven “worries where their next meal will come from.” Food Bank of the Rockies is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Colorado.

In addition to the corner kick program, Ardent Mills later in the season will host a Food Drive to Kick Hunger in which fans will be encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to a Rapids game to support Food Bank of the Rockies.

Separately, in partnership with the Colorado Rapids and Denver Nuggets, Ardent Mills is sponsoring the Team Fit program, which is designed to educate elementary and middle school students on healthy eating and fitness.

Ardent Mills operates 40 flour mills and bakery mix facilities across the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
