GENEVA — Anthony Tancredi has been appointed head of Louis Dreyfus Commodities’ global sugar business, replacing Jacques Gillaux. Mr. Tancredi has been with Louis Dreyfus for 30 years and previously headed its global cotton business before stepping down in November, when the company said he would move to an unnamed unit within the company. Louis Dreyfus’ sugar business consists of 16 global trading centers and is one of the world’s five largest sugar merchandisers, handling raw and refined sugar as well as ethanol, including origination in top-producing Brazil. In 2012 Louis Dreyfus bought Imperial Sugar, the United States’ second largest standalone sugar refiner.
