ORRVILLE, OHIO — Dennis J. Armstrong, senior vice-president, supply chain logistics and operations support for the J.M. Smucker Co. has announced plans to retire on Sept. 30, 2016. In his 37 years with the Orrville-based company, Mr. Armstrong served in a number of leadership roles in logistics, operations and purchasing.
Two at the company will advance to succeed Mr. Armstrong, effective May 1. James R. Day, a 27-year veteran of the company and current vice-president of coffee operations, will assume the position of senior vice-president, operations. Robert D. Ferguson, currently vice-president of integrated business and program management, who joined the company with the acquisition of Big Heart Pet Brands in 2015, will become senior vice-president, supply chain. Mr. Day and Mr. Ferguson will report to Mark Smucker, who will assume the role of president and chief executive officer on May 1.
