DENVER — Doug Pendergast has stepped down as president and chief executive officer of fast-food toasted sandwich chain Quiznos to spend more time with his family in Atlanta. Katherine Scherping, current chief financial officer, will serve as interim president and c.e.o.

We thank Doug for his dedication to the Quiznos brand and have full confidence in Katie and the management team to continue the brand on a successful path forward.”

Ms. Scherping has more than 30 years of finance, accounting and managerial experience. She joined Quiznos in December 2013 as c.f.o. and helped spearhead the brand’s financial restructuring in 2014 and helped overhaul Quiznos food cost and supply chain model in order to improve restaurant-level economics. Most recently, she led the roll-out of Quiznos new national point-of-sale system, which is expected to help bolster sales and lessen restaurant costs through new reporting and management tools.
Before joining Quiznos, she was senior vice-president and c.f.o. at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers. Earlier she was c.f.o. at Tanning Technology Corp. and also has worked at AT&T Broadband & Internet Services and ADT Security Services, Inc.
