NEW YORK — Crumbs Bake Shop, the retail cupcake business that emerged from bankruptcy in 2014, is now offering catering and delivery service throughout the New York City area.
As part of its catering service, Crumbs said its menu includes signature size cupcakes, breakfast, cookies and cakes. New York City-based customers may place catering orders from one of Crumbs’ nine Manhattan locations to be delivered door-to-door.
“The roll-out of catering and delivery services was a direct response to customer demand,” said Martin Azambuya, chief operating officer. “Loyal fans of Crumbs always come into the bake shops and tell us how great it would be if we could deliver to their offices for meetings or to their homes for birthdays or family gatherings. We are answering that request.”
In addition to the roll-out of the catering and delivery services, Crumbs said it is introducing handmade, pre-packaged in-store kosher lunch options at most of its Manhattan locations. The “Fresko Fresh” lunch menu includes items such as the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich, Rustico Sandwich, Greek Wrap, BBQ Black Bean Fajita Wrap, Bowtie Pesto Pasta Salad and Organic Quinoa Salad. Crumbs said the lunch items are not a part of the catering program and are available in-store only at most Manhattan locations.
“Crumbs’ signature cupcakes are what customers have grown to love over the years, and that’s not changing,” Mr. Azambuya said. “We will continue to indulge our fans with wall-to-wall deliciousness of cupcake varieties and elegant baked goods at our shops. But now they can drop in for a savory lunch as well, and shop for their favorite cupcakes at the same time.”
Crumbs debuted in 2003 and began diversifying its menu to expand beyond traditional cupcakes after being bought in 2014 by Fischer Enterprises, which also owns Dippin’ Dots, maker of flash-frozen ice cream beads, and Doc Popcorn, the world’s largest franchisor of fresh-popped, kettle-cooked flavored popcorn. In January, Crumbs partnered with Palermo Bakery, based out of Little Ferry, N.J. Palermo is now Crumbs’ New York City area bakery partner.
