The “Boxes of Blessings" program distributed 1,200 45-lb boxes of non-perishable items to feed a family of four for a week.
ATCHISON, KAS. — MGP Ingredients and local non-profit agencies partnered to distribute 1,200 boxes of food to families in need Dec. 9 and 10 in Atchison through a program called “Boxes of Blessings.” Each box contained nearly 45 lbs of non-perishable items to feed a family of four for a week.
Dallas-based BCW, which distributes specialty wheat proteins and starches from MGP Ingredients, established “Boxes of Blessings” more than 20 years ago. Atchison-based MGP Ingredients participated for the third straight year.
Joining MGP Ingredients in the efforts in Atchison were the Atchison County Food Pantry at First Christian Church, the Salvation Army, the Pantry of Hope and Catholic Charities. MGP Ingredients volunteers, representatives from food pantries and students from Benedictine College in Atchison handed out the boxes of food.
