WASHINGTON — The average price paid for white pan bread increased 1.9c per lb, while the price for whole wheat bread increased 2c in November, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor.
The national average retail price of white pan bread was 136.2c, up 1.9c per lb from October but down 4.7c from November 2015. On a month-to-month basis, the average price for white pan bread in November increased in three regions — up 5.3c in the West, up 4.5c in the South and up 1.1c in the Midwest — and decreased in one region — down 6.1c in the Northeast.
At 202.4c per lb, the national average price for whole wheat bread was up 2c per lb from October but down 0.4c per lb from November 2015.
The national average price of family flour in November was 50.7c per lb, down 1.6c from October but up 1.1c from November 2015.
The national average price for spaghetti and macaroni in November was 130.2c per lb, up 1c from October and up 3.6c from November 2015. Chocolate chip cookies were 336.6c per lb, down 10.4c from October and down 4.7c from November 2015. The national average price of white long-grain rice was 70.3c per lb, up 0.6c from October but down 2.9c from November 2015.
