LONGMONT, COLO. — The J.M. Smucker Co. plans to add capacity to its Smucker’s Uncrustables sandwich line by building a plant in Longmont, Colo. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017, and the plant will be operational in 2019.
The new plant is scheduled to be built in two phases with the total cost estimated to be $340 million if the entire project is completed. Phase one will include a $200 million investment to build and commission the plant. The second phase will occur if management believes there is enough product demand to warrant the addition of capacity.

Smucker Co. “This new plant to be built at the foot of the Rockies will ensure we can continue to meet increasing demand across the country.”
The J.M. Smucker Co. has another Uncrustables manufacturing plant in Scottsville, Ky., that manufactures 2 million sandwiches per day, according to the company. The Uncrustables brand was introduced in 2000 and has an estimated $200 million in sales.
