MEXICO CITY — Daniel Servitje, chairman and chief executive officer of Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V., has received the “Legend in Leadership” award from the Yale School of Management Chief Executive Leadership Institute. The award was presented on Feb. 21 as part of the first Yale Mexico CEO Forum.
“Sadly, the revered 98-year-old founder of highly regarded Grupo Bimbo, Don Lorenzo Servitje, passed away last month,” said Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, senior associate dean of leadership studies and conference organizer. “We are gratified, however, that at this tender moment, we can pay tribute to him and to his visionary successor, his son Daniel Servitje, who has long led this responsible, 72-year global enterprise, which is the world’s largest fresh bakery business.”
The forum was the 89th Yale CEO forum to be held over the past 26 years, with past events being held in Beijing; Delhi and Mumbai, India; Shanghai, New York, Washington, Atlanta, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Monterrey, Mexico.
The theme of the Yale Mexico CEO forum, which was held in partnership with the Yale School of Management Alumni Association, was “Examining new U.S./Mexico trade ripples.” The event took place at the J.W. Marriott in Mexico City.
Mr. Servitje was joined at the forum by other prominent Mexican business leaders, as well as top political officials from the United States and Mexico, a prominent delegation of U.S. business leaders, and trade experts from academia and the policy world.
