EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. — Grain Millers Canada Corp. has begun work on the expansion of the company’s oat mill in Yorkton, Sask. The project will add 80,000 tonnes of oat milling capacity annually at Yorkton.
The company said the project will cost C$100 million ($75 million) and will be completed late in 2018 and will expand the mill’s workforce by 25.

“We have operated in Saskatchewan for 20 years,” said Terry Tyson, director of grain procurement for G.M.C.C. “Yorkton is in the heart of oat country, and, with the skilled workforce we have here, it is a great location for us to continue growing our milling business. Our team is experienced, motivated, and ready to build upon a competitive and proven infrastructure.”
The Yorkton facility manufactures a complete array of conventional, organic and gluten-free oat products, Grain Millers said.
In addition to its Yorkton mill, Eden Prairie-based Grain Millers operates U.S. oat mills in St. Ansgar, Iowa; and Eugene, Ore.
