Baking Hall of Fame 2017
The American Society of Baking inducted four individuals into the Baking Hall of Fame during its 2017 meeting.

At our most recent meeting in 2017, the American Society of Baking inducted four individuals into the Baking Hall of Fame: Albert L. (Bud) Cason, Marvin and Murray Lender, and Joseph Schwebel.

The 2017 meeting theme was “Diversity,” and, appropriately, the recipients were from diverse segments of the baking industry. Bud Cason is a prominent cookie manufacturer, the Lender brothers made bagels an American breakfast staple, and Joseph Schwebel grew his family’s traditional bread and bun business in spite of a market with a shrinking population. Each one of these recipients brought innovation and leadership to their respective areas of the industry.

The American Society of Baking thanks Sosland Publishing for again publishing this journal. After 11 continuous years, this has become a rich history of the baking industry with 75 outstanding individuals. This continuous unfolding of our history was the vision of Gary Brodsky, our A.S.B. Hall of Fame founder.

We encourage everyone interested in the stories of our industry to visit the home of the Baking Hall of Fame at AIB International in Manhattan, Kas., and the Hall of Fame display at the Bundy museum in Urbana, Ohio.
