KANSAS CITY — Hostess Brands, L.L.C. is expanding its footprint in the frozen food category with the launch of new Molten Lava Ding Dongs, a play on the classic restaurant dessert.
The chocolate-coated snack cakes are filled with a rich chocolate crème and are ready to eat after 20 seconds in the microwave. Molten Lava Ding Dongs feature a 30% larger cake with 60% more crème filling and 20% more chocolate coating compared to original Ding Dongs, Hostess said.

“The introduction of Molten Lava Ding Dongs, which comes on the heels of last year’s launch of Deep-Fried Twinkies, demonstrates Hostess’ commitment to expanding its presence in the frozen food category,” said Burke Raine, senior vice-president and chief marketing officer for Hostess. “With this new product, Hostess continues to push the envelope of innovation, bringing consumers restaurant-ready versions of their favorite snack cakes, which can be enjoyed at home in seconds.”
Molten Lava Ding Dongs come in boxes of 10 individually wrapped cakes and are available in the freezer aisle of retailers nationwide.
