Space limitations pose a crucial challenge, according to BluePrint Automation (BPA), Colonial Heights, VA, customers. “Many of our customers are challenged with finding a solution that fits in their plant layout,” said Robbie Quinlin, the company’s marketing manager. “In addition to floor space, snack plants in particular typically have to worry about the height of a machine because of the mezzanine or platform above that usually gives them access to the bagger scales.”

The equipment manufacturer designed new case packing systems using its BPA-engineered 3- and 4-axis Delta-style robots to give its customers flexible and versatile solutions. “This is a perfect example of how we have listened to the needs of our customers and reacted accordingly,” Mr. Quinlin said. “Using our delta robot to case pack snack bags not only provided our customer with a smaller footprint — only 4 ft wide by 8 ft high — but also simplified the system mechanically.”

Also, he noted that 3- and 4-axis delta-style robots have become increasingly popular in the baking and snack industry for packing bags into secondary cases. “Using a delta robot still gives the customer a flexible and versatile solution, yet designed correctly, it can decrease the floor space needed to automate a line,” Mr. Quinlin added.
