CAMDEN, N.J. – Paul Charron has been elected to succeed Harvey Golub as chairman of the board for the Campbell Soup Co. effective August 2009, the beginning of the company’s next fiscal year.
Mr. Charron has been a director of Campbell since 2003. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Liz Claiborne Inc. from 1996 until his retirement in 2006, and he held positions at Procter and Gamble and General Foods earlier in his career. Charron is currently a senior advisor at Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm, and a managing partner of Fidus Investment Partners.
Mr. Golub joined the Campbell board in 1996, and he has served as chairman since 2004. From 1993 to 2001, he was chairman and c.e.o. of American Express Company. Since 2006, he has been executive chairman of Ripplewood Holdings L.L.C., a private equity firm.
