WASHINGTON — Plainview Milk Products Cooperative in Plainview, Minn., is recalling various ingredient products manufactured during the past two years as the products may be contaminated with Salmonella. The products include instant nonfat dried milk, whey protein, fruit stabilizer and gums.

These products were sold to other industry customers such as distributors and manufacturers, and these customers may have incorporated the potentially contaminated products into their own products. None of Plainview’s products were sold directly to the public.

Plainview has stopped production of the products and notified customers of the recall. The recall is currently limited to industry customers.

The Food and Drug Administration found some equipment at the Plainview facility to be contaminated with Salmonella. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not linked any human illnesses to the products. The F.D.A. first became aware of the issue from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as the U.S.D.A. found Salmonella in Dairyshake powder.
