BRONX, N.Y. — The public auction of equipment from the Stella D’oro baking headquarters is set for Feb. 9 to close out the company’s 78-year history of breadstick manufacturing in the Bronx. Lance, Inc., Charlotte, N.C., completed the purchase of the company in October 2009 and moved production to Ashland, Ohio. Italian immigrant Joseph Kresivich founded the company in 1932. Nabisco bought it in 1992. Kraft Foods Inc. bought Nabisco and later sold the Stella D’oro factory to Brynwood Partners, a private investing firm, in 2006. After a labor dispute and a year-long strike, Brynwood sold the company to Lance.
