OMAHA — Gavilon Grain, L.L.C., which does business as Peavey Co., announced plans to build a 1.3-million bu, slipform concrete grain elevator near Altus, Okla. The facility will be capable of unloading up to 50 trucks, or 60,000 bus, per hour and unloading 110-car shuttles at 60,000 bus per hour (about one car every four minutes). Gavilon said the facility will be ready to receive grain beginning with this year’s wheat harvest.
“We are pleased to be expanding into southwest Oklahoma to serve area producers,” said Matt Gibson, director of merchandising and operations for the western region at Gavilon Grain. “The Altus location will complement our existing grain elevators in the surrounding region, including the Port of Catoosa in Oklahoma, and Saginaw and Wichita Falls in north Texas.”
Mark Sethre, a veteran with 24 years of experience merchandising grain, will manage the elevator.
