OVERLAND PARK, KAS. — The International Association of Operative Millers (I.A.O.M.) said Unit 1 of its new I.A.O.M. Correspondence Course in Flour Milling is available for purchase at www.iaom.info. The course consists of eight units, with Unit 1 focusing on an introduction to milling and wheat. Lessons within the unit include: milling history; wheat production and composition; wheat quality evaluation; wheat marketing; wheat storage and handling; wheat selection and blending; and understanding flow sheets. There is no set time to complete a unit or the course, but the units must be completed in numerical order. Unit 2 — Wheat Cleaning, will be available in August, the I.A.O.M. said.
