BATTLE CREEK, MICH. — The Kellogg Co. has raised the fiber content in most of its Special K cereals, making the products a “good” source of fiber.
Fiber content in the Special K cereal line, which includes Red Berries, Fruit & Yogurt, Cinnamon Pecan, Vanilla Almond, Blueberry and Chocolatey Delight, has been raised to 3 grams per serving, up from less than 2 grams per serving across the line previously. The exception is Special K Original cereal, which does not contain added fiber.
“We’re excited to add positive nutrition to our portfolio of weight management cereals without sacrificing the great taste consumers expect from the Special K brand,” said Jesper Lund Jacobsen, senior brand manager for Special K. “Special K cereals will continue to provide people with a simple solution to help them achieve realistic, attainable weight-loss goals.”
In June 2009, Kellogg set a goal to make the majority of its U.S. ready-to-eat cereals a good source of fiber by the end of 2010.
