DALLAS — Income for Brinker International, Inc. was up 104% during the second quarter despite a decline in revenue.
For the quarter ended Dec. 29, the company had income of $37,464,000, equal to 41c per share on the common stock, which compared with $18,324,000, or 18c per share, during the same quarter of the previous year. The company had revenue of $671,886,000, down 5% from $705,515,000 during the same quarter of the previous year.
“Our second-quarter results demonstrate progress made on our commitment to double e.p.s. in five years,” said Doug Brooks, president and chief executive officer. “We’ve gained this traction through continued margin expansion at Chili’s, top-line growth at Maggiano’s and investments in our business designed to generate profitable and sustainable long-term sales growth.”
For the six months ended Dec. 29, the company posted income of $58,895,000, or 61c per share, up 73% from $34,091,000, or 33c per share, during the same period of the previous year.
