SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — NutraCea, recently out of bankruptcy, suffered a net loss of $32.1 million in the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2009, according to fiscal year and quarterly results filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company intends to file an annual report for 2010 along with reports for the first three quarters of 2010 by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
Previously, NutraCea emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Nov. 30, 2010, and reached a settlement with the S.E.C. on Jan. 17, 2011, regarding an investigation into alleged accounting irregularities.
The loss of $32.1 million in 2009 compared to a loss of $64.6 million in 2008. NutraCea, a producer and marketer of stabilized rice bran, had total revenues of $33.2 million for fiscal year 2009, which compared to $35.2 million in the previous year.
