MINNEAPOLIS — Sarena Lin has been named corporate vice-president, strategy and business development, at Cargill. Ms. Lin succeeds Jim Haymaker, who will retire after 38 years of service to the company.

Ms. Lin joins Cargill after 13 years at McKinsey and Co., serving in managing partner and principal roles in Taiwan and New York. She has extensive experience in business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, supply chain and strategic sourcing. Earlier in her career, she held product management roles with Procter & Gamble and Xerox Corp.

She received an undergraduate degree from Harvard University, a master’s of arts degree in international relations from Yale University and a master of business administration degree in strategy from the Yale School of Management.

“Sarena’s impressive background in management consulting will add great depth and new perspective to our leadership team,” Mr. Haymaker said. “She will play a key role in driving innovation and influencing strategy that will help set the tone for growth at Cargill.”

In addition to her strategy and business development role, Ms. Lin will become a member of Cargill’s Corporate Center, the company’s senior most management body representing leadership across businesses and functions.
