GRANDVIEW, MO. — Travis Dean Bryant, a longtime employee of Interstate Brands Corp., died June 26. He was 75 years old.
Born in Warren, Ark., Mr. Bryant received a degree in mechanical engineering from Finlay College in Kansas City.
He started working at I.B.C. in 1960 when the Kansas City plant was a bread and cake operation. He was involved in building the bakery in Emporia, Kas., where he was chief engineer for several years. He was the onsite project engineer when I.B.C. built its bakery in Columbus, Ga., in 1971, where he became the facility’s first chief engineer.
During the 1980s, as I.B.C. went through several ownership changes and restructuring, Mr. Bryant was divisional engineer for the cake region, and he was promoted to vice-president, cake engineering, in the early 1990s. After I.B.C. acquired Continental Baking Company in 1995, he became director of environmental affairs.
At the time of his retirement in 2004 he was vice-president and director of environmental affairs.
He is survived by four children, seven grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. C.S.T. on Saturday, June 30, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Ark. The committal service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Warren, Ark.
