WASHINGTON — Senator Susan Collins of Maine will speak at the Headline Breakfast June 17 at the annual meeting of the Independent Bakers Association.
The annual meeting, the group’s 36th, will be held June 15-17 at the Washington Court hotel in Washington.
Ms. Collins is the ranking member and former chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. She coauthored the Collins-Lieberman Intelligence Reform legislation, enhancing intelligence systems preparation for future terrorist attacks. She is the author of the bipartisan SAFE Port Act, with Senator Patty Murray of Washington. The law makes ports safer and creates incentives for ports to enhance their security.
Ms. Collins is an advocate for education and health care, particularly finding ways to ensure rural Americans have access.
At the I.B.A. breakfast, Ms. Collins will offer insights into the current state of homeland security.
