WASHINGTON — The Heart of America Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Kansas City Division of the FBI plan to host the International Symposium on Agroterrorism on April 26-28 at Crown Center in Kansas City.
The first I.S.A. event was held in May 2005 with the purpose of bringing together the public and private sectors to identify the most important issues relevant to terrorism threats involving the food and agricultural sectors.
The upcoming event will focus on the need to communicate and coordinate among private industry, law enforcement, government agencies, science and academia and the health and medical professions in order to protect the global food supply. Specific points of discussion will be threats to the food and agricultural sectors, genetically modified foods, synthetic biology, physical security, biosecurity, economic and trade concerns, and transportation issues.
Overall, the I.S.A. allows attendees to hear experts from around the world discuss relevant topics and interact with others in the industry who are experiencing the same issues.
