CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Puratos plans to break ground this month on a new 171,000-square-foot facility in Pennsauken, N.J. The company will invest $42 million in the facility, which will produce a variety of bakery improvers, bases, mixes, bio-fermented sourdoughs and finishers, including icings, glazes, fruit fillings and cream fillings.
The manufacturing plant should be operational in the fall of 2012 and should have annual production capacity of more than 90,000 metric tons. It will provide more than 190 jobs.
Puratos will surpass the GFSI Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification standards through the design, construction and operation of the facility. “Green” initiatives will include an internal water usage recovery system, air quality controls, waste water treatment and a recycling program.
