WASHINGTON — Cheese, egg, chicken and red meat stocks in freezers on April 30, 2011, were higher than year-earlier levels but turkey and butter stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage report.
Natural cheese stocks on April 30, 2011, totaled 1,041,002,000 lbs, up 1% from March and up 2% from April 2010, the U.S.D.A. said. April 2011 butter stocks were 141,382,000 lbs, down 2% from the previous month and down 31% from the previous year.
Total chicken stocks on April 30, 2011, were 744,335,000 lbs, up 7% from March and up 18% from April 2010, the U.S.D.A. said. Frozen turkey stocks totaled 364,404,000 lbs, up 12% from March but down 14% from April 2010. Total frozen poultry supplies were 1,115,625,000 lbs, up 8% from March and up 6% from April 2010.
Total frozen red meat supplies on April 30, 2011, were 1,005,710,000 lbs, down 3% from March but up 15% from the previous year. Frozen pork stocks totaled 545,804,000 lbs, down 5% from March but up 13% from April 2010. Frozen pork belly stocks were 53,189,000 lbs, up 1% from March and up 7% from April 2010. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 442,792,000 lbs, down 1% from March but up 20% from April 2010.
Frozen egg stocks on April 30, 2011, totaled 27,726,000 lbs, up 2% from March and up 24% from April 2010. Stocks of egg whites were 3,725,000 lbs, up 1% from March and up 4% from April 2010. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 1,674,000 lbs, down 17% from March but up 219% from April 2010. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 6,028,000 lbs, down 8% from March but up 3% from April 2010. Unclassified egg stocks were 16,299,000 lbs, up 8% from March and up 31% from April 2010 levels.
Stocks of frozen french fries on April 30 were 853,815,000 lbs, down 2% from March and down 4% from April 2010. Frozen vegetable stocks (excluding potatoes) totaled 1,602,705,000 lbs, down 8% from March and down 11% from April 2010.
Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate on April 30, 2011, were 1,211,762,000 lbs, up 2% from March but down 30% from April 2010. Stocks of all types of frozen fruit on April 30, 2011, totaled 771,350,000 lbs, down 9% from March and down 21% from the previous year.
