PICO RIVERA, CALIF. — BakeMark, a manufacturer and distributor of bakery ingredients, products and supplies, has reached an agreement to acquire the Multifoods brand and two manufacturing facilities from CSM Bakery Solutions. The facilities are located in Elyria, Ohio, and Spartanburg, S.C.
The Ohio and South Carolina facilities will be integrated into BakeMark’s manufacturing footprint, which already includes facilities in Pico Rivera, Calif.; Richmond, B.C.; and Calgary, Alta. Meanwhile, the Multifoods line of bakery mixes and bases will join BakeMark’s broad portfolio that includes Westco, BakeSense, Best Brands, BakeQwik, Trigal Dorado, C’est Vivant and Sprinkelina.
“Increased customer demand coupled with our strategy to grow our ingredients business created the need for these acquisitions,” said Jim Parker, president and chief executive officer of BakeMark. “Adding the Multifoods brand and these manufacturing facilities will certainly help us better support our customers and industry partners and help us meet our goal of driving success for them and all our stakeholders well into the future. It’s an exciting time.”
David Lopez, director of marketing at BakeMark, said the addition of the Multifoods brand is a “perfect fit” with BakeMark’s “exclusive portfolio of the industry’s finest brands.”
“With an expanded solutions offering, we look forward to meeting more of our customers’ needs across the U.S. and Canada, and partnering more with our customers on their successes,” Mr. Lopez said.
BakeMark manufactures and distributes bakery ingredients, products and supplies throughout the world across all industry channels. The company operates 5 manufacturing plants and 25 distribution centers located across North America.
The transaction comes about five months after BakeMark acquired the brand and product portfolio of Best Brands from CSM Bakery Solutions and about six months since BakeMark was acquired by Pamplona Capital Management from CSM Bakery Solutions in mid-August 2017.
