FARGO, N.D. — Gary Jensen, president of Roman Meal Co. since August 2004, will retire from the company at the end of this month. His role at the company will be filled by Micah Wightman, director of international sales, and others at the company.
Mr. Wightman joined Roman Meal in 2017 and has been in charge of nurturing existing international relationships and expanding Roman Meal’s footprint into other countries. Before joining Roman Meal, Mr. Wightman spent several years at Daymon Worldwide.
Mr. Jensen has been associated with the baking industry for nearly 45 years. He held a number of sales and marketing positions at Pepperidge Farm, Inc. for 13 years before joining Campbell Taggart, Inc. (which later became Earthgrains, Inc. and then became part of Sara Lee Corp.) in 1986 as group marketing manager. He later was promoted to the positions of vice-president of sales and marketing of the diversified group; senior vice-president of sales, western region; and senior vice-president, national accounts.
Active in industry affairs for many years, Mr. Jensen is a founding member of the Whole Grains Council and is a member of the American Bakers Association. He served on the marketing committee of the Grain Foods Foundation.
Mr. Jensen has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas, Dallas.
While he intends to “slow down” in the years to come and spend more time in faith-based activities (he is a member of First Baptist Church, Amarillo, Texas), Mr. Jensen said he will be doing projects and consulting work on a part-time basis.
