DuPont and TFTAK seek to produce new probiotic solutions.
WILMINGTON, DEL. —The DuPont Nutrition & Health Microbiome Venture has announced a new strategic partnership with the Center of Food and Fermentation Technologies (TFTAK). The companies will team up to produce new cultivation and bioprocess capabilities for “next-generation” probiotics.
DuPont defines its “next-generation” probiotics as commensal microbes that reside naturally in the gastrointestinal tract, which are shown to be associated with health and wellness. To produce the microbes at scale, the companies must master the microorganism’s demanding growth requirements.
“We are delighted to be partnering with TFTAK,” said Sebastien Guery, Microbiome Venture leader, DuPont. “With its excellent capabilities in bioprocess technology and systems biology, TFTAK will support DuPont by defining the optimum conditions required to culture and produce some of our next-generation probiotic strain candidates.”
TFTAK is a research organization based in Tallinn, Estonia, that creates food and fermentation technologies. It is the second company to partner with DuPont on its Microbiome Venture, which was announced in November 2017.
