OVERLAND PARK, KAS. — Hosted by BEMA and sponsored by Clif Bar, “BEMA Gives Back” is a service activity for families attending the 2018 Convention on Saturday, June 23.

Attendees receive the opportunity to support organizations such as Casa Hogar, Liga Mac, CAM, Tree of Hope and CIME located in Los Cabos, Mexico, which is the host community for the convention. These organizations aid special needs children, foster children and at-risk families.

The event will begin with a background presentation on each of the organizations, then move to hands-on service projects. Work stations include tasks such as organizing first aid supplies, building cribs and bunk beds, painting shoes, assembling math boards and filling backpacks with school supplies.

 “Giving back is very important to me personally and an emphasis for my year as chairman,” said Don Osborne, chairman of the board, BEMA. “Service to others is also a great way to continue celebrating BEMA’s 100th anniversary. We can’t wait to see a few hundred BEMA families at work side-by-side to leave something great behind in Cabo.”

BEMA has been providing financial support to organizations, communities and the baking industry since 1979 and encourages its members to do the same. Past donations and services include organizations such as Crop Hunger Walk, Heart to Heart International to support disaster relief efforts and Corbion’s Kansas City team, which packs holiday food boxes for Harvesters Community Food Network.
